Sherry Opacic

Dr. Sherry Opacic has served on the Festival of Children Foundation Board of Directors since its inception in 2003. Sherry is passionate about its mission and shares Sandy Segerstrom Daniels’ commitment to transforming children’s lives through the empowerment of children’s charities.

Sherry has also been active in other charities including the Orange County School of the Arts Foundation, National Charity League, and Pathways to Independence, to name just a few.

Currently, Sherry serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Excellence in a school district in San Diego County.

She has held numerous educational leadership positions at the county level including Associate Superintendent, Instructional Services; Director and Administrator, Institute for Leadership Development; and Coordinator, Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment.

Prior to working at the county level, Dr. Opacic served as a district administrator in charge of curriculum and staff development and as a principal. She also has experience as an adjunct professor at the college level and concurrently managed family businesses promoting the arts. She began her career as a teacher.

Sherry’s hobbies include attending concerts, theater arts performances, going to art galleries, cooking classes, and traveling. She is married and has four children.
