Vital Link OC kicked off the 2020 – 2021 school year with all new virtual events that exceeded expectations with hands-on, educational activities! Vital Link OC launched their first Vital Link OC App that was made specifically for students to network amongst each other and industry professionals in a safe environment.
In October 2020, Vital Link OC opened with an annual Manufacturing Month, which reached over 700 high school students. This virtual event included various engineering and advanced manufacturing companies such as Reborn Cabinets, Polaris Manufacturing, Mosey’s, and more! Students watched Vital Link OC weekly – LIVE Panel Sessions of these businesses that provided extensive information on what skills and techniques students should build and work toward before college. Students also learned from local Orange County Community Colleges what engineering and manufacturing courses are offered.
The Vital Link OC’s Virtual Student Leadership Series launched November 2020, and they reached nearly 900 students, providing hands-on activities that helped students work on a wide array of leadership skills. Each week students had different workshops that focused on networking, communication skills, building personal strengths towards careers, and how to apply the work in their future. Students were able to connect with businesses such as Sandvik Coromant, Medtronic Neurovascular, Hope Builders, Fluor, and many more! These professionals spoke with students during the weekly LIVE Panel Sessions and provided insight and gave advice about their leadership and how to stand out professionally. The top 10 students who successfully completed the Virtual Student Leadership Series were awarded by Vital Link OC a Pizza Hut Gift Certificate, met virtually with mentors from Edwards Lifesciences, and attended the Career Launch Academy with Sean O’Keefe!
Vital Link OC’s biggest hits of the season were the Virtual College and Career Fairs where they reached nearly 5,000 students! They had over 150 colleges and universities participate in interactive panel sessions and reviewed FAFSA and NCAA information. These events provided recorded videos from colleges and businesses, access to information needed for activities, connections with industry professionals such as State Street and Beard Boy Productions, and LIVE Panel Sessions with representatives from various colleges and universities.
Vital Link OC plans to continue to assist students in exploring their career interests, discover their endless possibilities, and connecting them with industry professionals and educational opportunities!
