Late last year, YES Program Manager, Michelle, shared current job opportunities from employer partners with alumni clients and teachers that Youth Employment Service (YES) have worked with. Mikailah’s teacher responded, noting Mikailah’s excitement about an open position at Mon Amie Bridal. Michelle arranged Mikailah’s mock interview right away, knowing it would give her the confidence she would need to ace the interview with Mon Amie owner Laurel Mungo.
Mikailah was matched to YES volunteer and alum, Vanessa Birnbaum, who had completed the YES program herself years ago. Coincidentally, her first job had been at a David’s Bridal shop. She later changed jobs, landing at – coincidentally, again – Mon Amie Bridal. This was a connection we were not previously aware of and seemed fateful!
After completing her mock interview, Mikailah was scheduled for an interview at Mon Amie Bridal, where she was offered the position, started that same week, and continues to work. This was a collaborative effort, and we are so pleased to have been able to assist Mikailah as a client, and Laurel as an employer.
