Eliza Mejia is a single mom who has been deeply affected by COVID-19. With her 9 month year old daughter, Ireland, she has difficulty providing even the basic necessities such as diapers, on top of other expenses.
“Going outside is like getting ready for battle with all the PPE that you put on, you know? I have to find a baby sitter to go grocery shopping because I am afraid to bring my daughter with me,” Eliza explains.
Fortunately, she was able to find relief through our Diaper Bank program.
“Not having to worry about whether or not I have enough diapers to keep her clean and dry is such a blessing, Eliza says. “She’s really big, and grows out of certain sizes within a week, but the diapers I receive can keep up with her growth spurts.”
On Thursday, July 16th, Eliza was the lucky recipient of our one millionth diaper! In addition to her regular supply of diapers, she also received a bag filled with additional baby supplies, and care products for Eliza herself.
“Thank you, Community Action Partnership of Orange County, God bless you all. Thank you for coming together and having this program available to people like me. I know that everybody can use a little help once in a while. I can rest assured during these uncertain times because of this program and I am so grateful for it. Thank you.”
